Camel Coat | OOTD

I surprised myself with this purchase - a camel coat. I think a lot of it has to do with my new hair. Previously, I shied away from any and all brown tones due to my hair also being brown, and not finding brown to be all that flattering on me. Now that I'm blonde, I guess all bets are off. I found this coat in the Zara sale, and had to have it.

I was torn between this coat - then $60, now even lower - and another that seemed to be a lonely unicorn one size too small that didn't seem to be in the sale and cost $200. I think for a camel coat test drive, I made the right choice. This one will last me at least a couple of seasons, and while it's not wool or anything fancy, it's warm enough.

This little shoot was also a test drive of my new Panasonic Lumix mirrorless camera I mentioned in my year-end review post. I happened to have the camera in my bag, so I thought I'd take it out and do what I had intended to do with it! We're still getting to know each other, but I really like how these shots turned out. Now to save up for the 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens so I can get some great depth of field ;)

Outfit stuff --

Coat - Zara (on sale right now here
Sweater - Oak and Fort (no longer available)
Leggings - Zara (I have two pairs of their "body shaping" leggings and am 100% obsessed. Buy them. You won't regret it.)
Boots - Zara (really similar)
Bag - Alexander Wang Rocco (similar, I have the light gold hardware, not rose gold)
Sunglasses - Warby Parker Reilly

Hope you're enjoying (or at least surviving) this sudden winter weather. Brrrrrr, it's cold in here!

  1. Haha, I've been going back and forth on that jacket! I was hesitant cause it seems more like a blazer type and NYC is sooo cold right now. How is it in terms of layering? Like, with a sweater and tee on underneath, is it too tight? Seriously tempted...

    1. It is a bit "blazer-y", but I'm really liking it! The sweater I have on under it is pretty chunky and fits fine, but I wouldn't try and pile on anything else. It was hovering around 0 degrees Celcius when I shot this (so 32 F I think?) and I don't think I would want to be caught outside in it in weather below -5C/23F.
