If you've been with me long enough, you'll know I have a soft spot for cheek products - blush and highlight, to be exact. Contour powder, I can take it or leave it to be honest. Lately my true love has been highlighter. I can't get enough.
My top right now? Clinique's Hefty Highlight stick, Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured in Pearl, and Rodial's Instaglam Compact Deluxe Illuminating Powder. Not exactly budget options (especially the Rodial one, yikes) but their performances really speak for themselves. If you know of any good drugstore highlighters, I would love to hear about them!
I love these three because they're just different enough from each other that it's worth having them all. Clinique's is a pink toned highlight, and is crazy easy to apply in stick form! Meanwhile, Becca's Pearl is white-pearl and absolutely stunning on the skin, but a total nightmare to apply. The most effective option is the fingers, but I cringe every time, since I know I'm dirtying it even more with every use. The Rodial one strikes a good balance between its beauty (oh boy!) and its user-friendliness (a brush!). It's a light champagne colour that is pretty universal. Powder is always a great option, and this one works great on the eyelids as well. This is what I'm wearing below; it's a great colour, and is very subtle while being luminous and doing its job.
As far as value for money goes, if you're on a budget, the Clinique stick will make you happy. If you're down to spend a bit more, Becca has three great formulas with a nice variety of colours to choose from. A happy medium in terms of bang for your buck. Then there's Rodial... I will say upfront that I bought this with Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points, so I basically got this for free. Would I purchase it with my own money? Probably not. But it's beautiful and creamy and luxe and I will certainly enjoy it while it lasts.
