90s Throwback | OOTD

Another day, another outfit. Can you tell I'm going through a parking lot phase? And a 90s phase? I am now the proud owner of two pairs of overalls (with another pair from ASOS in the mail) and a bunch of croppy tank tops, so I think it's official. To be fair, I was born in the 80s, so at least this is legit. I'm a real 90s kid.

90s inspired OOTD ft. Forever 21 top and denim skirt, Zara block heel sandals, Mansur Gavriel bag, and Warby Parker sunglasses.

Also a little shoutout to my long scraggly hair. I've since had it chopped quite a bit, so it's a bit weird to see myself with such a mane. I'm currently rocking a longish all-one-length cut while waiting for my bangs to fully grow out. It feels like it's taking ages, but I will persevere!

Back to this outfit - a denim skater skirt and a boxy sweater top. I'm obsessed. The skirt is bordering on a tad short for someone of my advanced age of 25 (hah!) but I say if it feels good, do it.

A little hello to my Mansur Gavriel bag is in order here - it's been enjoying a little vacation in my closet for the past little while. I realized that I had been carrying it every.damn.day and didn't want to wear it out, so I pulled some other bags into the fold. I also prefer smaller crossbodies in the summer, so the timing worked out perfectly.

Also a hello to matching my shoes to my skirt. Can that be a thing? Like matching your lipstick to your dress?

Highlighters of the Moment | Beauty Talk

If you've been with me long enough, you'll know I have a soft spot for cheek products - blush and highlight, to be exact. Contour powder, I can take it or leave it to be honest. Lately my true love has been highlighter. I can't get enough.

My fav highlighters of the moment: Clinique Hefty Highlight Stick, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter Poured in Pearl, and Rodial Instaglam Compact.

My top right now? Clinique's Hefty Highlight stick, Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured in Pearl, and Rodial's Instaglam Compact Deluxe Illuminating Powder. Not exactly budget options (especially the Rodial one, yikes) but their performances really speak for themselves. If you know of any good drugstore highlighters, I would love to hear about them!

I love these three because they're just different enough from each other that it's worth having them all. Clinique's is a pink toned highlight, and is crazy easy to apply in stick form! Meanwhile, Becca's Pearl is white-pearl and absolutely stunning on the skin, but a total nightmare to apply. The most effective option is the fingers, but I cringe every time, since I know I'm dirtying it even more with every use. The Rodial one strikes a good balance between its beauty (oh boy!) and its user-friendliness (a brush!). It's a light champagne colour that is pretty universal. Powder is always a great option, and this one works great on the eyelids as well. This is what I'm wearing below; it's a great colour, and is very subtle while being luminous and doing its job

As far as value for money goes, if you're on a budget, the Clinique stick will make you happy. If you're down to spend a bit more, Becca has three great formulas with a nice variety of colours to choose from. A happy medium in terms of bang for your buck. Then there's Rodial... I will say upfront that I bought this with Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points, so I basically got this for free. Would I purchase it with my own money? Probably not. But it's beautiful and creamy and luxe and I will certainly enjoy it while it lasts.

Off The Grid | OOTD

A while back I saw a photo of Diane Kruger wearing a really cute co-ord set. Who What Wear told me - much to my delight - that it was Forever 21. So off I went... and here I am.

I bought this without trying it on, and while the in-store experience calmed most of my fears about whether this was even going to work on me, I was still terrified that I would look like I was swimming in fabric. Alas, my fears were unfounded, since I clearly look amazing. As I've mentioned a few times already, Forever 21 has been hitting it out of the park for me lately. Obviously I'm not there for the fringey, under-18 style offerings, but their stock of "old people" stuff has been fab.
