Luxurious Lips | Tom Ford Lipstick Splurging

After much deliberation, my lipstick collection has a fancy new addition: Tom Ford. Times two. While my Nordstrom doesn't carry the full makeup line, there's a sneaky little lipstick display that immediately caught my eye on my first stroll up and down the beauty aisles. I did some careful research after a preliminary swatchfest - because let's be real, these babies are not cheap - and narrowed down my must-haves to these two.

Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pussycat and Tom Ford Lip Color Shine in Bare

Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pussycat, and Tom Ford Lip Color Shine in Bare. Completely different and completely luxurious. Perhaps it's a bit soon to declare my everlasting love for these lipsticks, but they're both beautiful. Pussycat is a plum-tinged pink that pulls delightfully cool on me. I hesitate to call it a true matte, because it doesn't feel or look dry. It feels more satiny on my lips, but the finish is really beautiful and the colour applies evenly and smoothly. Oddly enough it's a colour I didn't already have in my collection, so I think it's going to be in high rotation! It's subtle enough for everyday, but has enough impact to feel a bit special.

Bare is an interesting one. I was immediately drawn to it in the display, and had pretty much decided on it right away. It's a sheer shimmery beige that adds just the right amount of "nude" to my lips to actually have nude lips while still looking alive. It's a much sheerer formula than the matte, much like my beloved Chanel Rouge Coco Shine. They're definitely not the same product, but their overall purpose - a balm-like product with a sheer colour - is essentially the same. It's definitely not for everybody, especially at this price point, but it's been my everyday "throw it in my bag" lip colour so that has to be a good sign, right?

I can't see myself splurging on Tom Ford again in the near future, but I'm thrilled with these picks and I will cherish them until their very last breaths... My goodness that sounds dramatic, but when you're paying $55 for a lipstick (!!!) things can get a bit weird.

Next on my makeup haulage list are some cheek products from the oft-overlooked Clinique. There are some new additions to the Pop blush line, which I love, and I swatched the Chubby Stick highlighter the other day at Sephora and I might be obsessed... My blush collection is getting a bit out of hand, but what can I say, I love it!

  1. I bought one shade of Tom Ford lipsticks, and like you, I vowed to never buy another one. I love the way it applies and I love the color, but I feel like I say that about many of my other cheaper lipsticks as well.

  2. ah so jealous! I really want a Tom Ford lipstick but they are so expensive! They're £37 (CAD $69) here in the UK so I won't be getting one any time soon unfortunately! Pussycat is a gorgeous colour! :)

  3. These are gorgeous colours! I'm a huge fan of Tom Ford beauty, too. :)
