OOTD | Latest Obsessions

The inevitable finally happened. I purchased the Daria faux leather leggings from Aritzia. I couldn't restrain myself any longer. To be fair, I think I held out pretty well. I've been wanting them for over a year and the less expensive (but far inferior) leggings I got from Zara were an okay placeholder... but it was time.

It was my first time even trying them on (with this sweater, which I also bought and am obsessed with). It took me about 5 minutes of struggling in the dressing room to get on the size extra small, but finally I got them on. I waddled out to the mirrors, feeling a bit like a sausage in an extremely tight casing, where the SA assured me that these leggings stretch out so much that you need to get the tightest pair you can possibly fit into. She told me she was on her second pair because she didn't get the sizing right the first time. By that time I was already starting to feel less constricted, so I took her word for it and got the xs - and oh boy was she ever right! They fit perfectly now.

This sweater is also something I had been looking at for a while. It's quickly becoming a favourite i.e. I have been wearing it almost every day since I got it. The fabric is beautiful - a mix of wool, linen, and viscose - and hasn't even hinted at getting fuzzy or balling after my repeated wears. Which is a relief, because this sweater was hella expensive!

This whole outfit - blanket scarf, bag, and boots included - has quickly become a uniform for me on my days off. So comfy and chic and warm. I'm obsessed. I never thought I'd see the day where an outfit consisting of leggings and a long sweater was my go-to, but here we are!

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season! I'm all set with my shopping and wrapping and can just relax today. It's very very nice to not be at all stressed about Christmas this year!

  1. Hi there I love your erin sweater! I was wondering what size you wear? :)

    1. Hi! They run REALLY small - this is the xxs. The arms are close-fitting, but I still have loads of space in the body. Hope that helps!

    2. Hi, thanks for the quick response!
I was debating between the XS or XXS, so that definitely helps!
I also purchased the daria faux leather leggings after reading your blog. :)
Looking forward to your future OOTDs!

    3. Glad I could help! I'd say if you're normally an xs or even an s in most places, and don't have larger arms, then the xxs should be good. I see now that I mixed myself up - they run large, not small! Oops! Enjoy your leggings - I just got a compliment on them today at the mall, so get ready to be a supermodel haha ;)

    4. I got my daria leggings in the mail today in an XS - it took me awhile to get into them (maybe 2-3 mins), but once I got into them they were comfortable to wear. I'm not sure if this is a sign that I should try and fit into a XXS, or if I should just stick with an XS, since I did struggle with getting them on.

I am paranoid about them stretching out a ton :( I was wondering how long it took for them to stetch out for you, and if you noticed more stretching after that?

Thank you in advance ! Sorry for so many questions :)

    5. When I tried on the leggings they were VERY tight (like, not able to bend my knees very much) but after about 2-3 minutes or so of wearing them around the dressing room they started to feel much more comfortable. I find they have stretched out a bit more since then but not nearly as much as I thought they would (which is good!) - they're perfect now, and have pretty much reached their final stretching size (I hope!). They're still very tight but I am able to move very well in them.

I think it's a good sign that you struggled to get them on, but also consider how they felt when you got them on for the first time. Is there a huge difference between then and now? Were they really constricting at first, even for a few moments, but are good now? If you're unsure about it and can either go to the store to try on or afford to order the xxs and return whichever doesn't work, then you do what you need to do to feel good about the purchase. It's a lot of money to spend on leggings, so it needs to be right!

    6. That's what happened to me as well! They were extremely tight at first, then they became more comfortable after about 2-3 minutes. There isn't much of a difference between then and now (besides the fact that they are way more comfortable than before).

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I don't know many people who own these leggings, so I am glad your initial experience was similar to mine. I'm certain now that the XS is the right size for me! Thanks again. :D

  2. Would you mind sharing what size pants you normally wear? I'm planning to order the Aritzia leggings online since I can't make it to the store and I can't seem to find much in the way of reviews... their size chart seems like a medium would be the perfect fit since i'm ususally a 28-29. After reading your post i'm wondering if I should get the small.. Any advice? Thanks!

    1. Hi Jessica! In denim I'm a 25-26, and in most trousers a 0-2. I wear a 2 in the Ellis pant from Aritzia, if same-store sizing helps. I just measured myself and in the size chart I'm an xs in the waist (24.5"), but the small end of size small in the hips (36"). If you're nearest to the smaller end of the medium range on the size chart, a small may be worth checking out - they really are very stretchy and loosen considerably. Hope this helps!

    2. Thanks so much for your quick response! This is super helpful.. I seem to be a pretty clear medium on their chart so i'm thinking i'll just go with that and hope for the best haha
      Thanks again!

  3. Hi, i realize this blog post is a year old, but there's not alot online regarding correct legging size. I just bought the Aritzia leggings in a small, at the advice of a sales girl. They are ok to move around in, but they are not high waisted on me. At all! They actually come up to an inch below my belly button, giving me a little muffin top. The mediums fit similar, but sit an inch ABOVE my belly button. Either way I will be wearing longer, loose tips with them, so not a huge deal. Just really suprising. For reference I am 5'9" and a 29 in jeans. I Was afraid a medium would stretch so much I'd be hiking the waist up, but I'm hoping the small stretches enough in the waist/thigh area so I don't have to hike them up over my muffin top. Yours look perfect, did the waist stretch at all?

  4. Hi, I'm wondering how tall are you and how much do you weigh? I'm trying to figure out if I should get the XS or XXS.

  5. hi there, i just got a pair of these two days ago and they are so beautiful !! i bought the size recommend by the store salesgirl, a small (i'm 5'4" 132lb) but after wearing at home for a bit i noticed that the seam at the crotch is spread wider than the stitches up at the hip area and i'm wondering if it's a flaw or if the seams ment to stretch a bit ?? i'm an hour away from the store or i'd just pop by.....what do you think ? are your seams nice and tight? thanks Jennifer

    1. Hi Jennifer! The seam in the crotch/bum does stretch a little more than on the sides on my pair. So long as the rest fits well and doesn't feel like it's pulling and putting stress on the crotch seam, it should be fine!
