more Etsy love...

I'm not sure what has gotten into me, but I think I have a massive Etsy problem. And a dainty silver jewelry problem. A few days after receiving my gorgeous "C" initial necklace, I ordered this sideways hamsa hand necklace I'd had my eye on. Again, super dainty and feminine. Right up my alley.

This is my first hamsa/evil eye type of jewelry, aside from some beads and charms I ordered last year on Etsy that are still sitting, very sad and lonely, in my bead box. I'd been wanting a necklace like this for a while though, so once I'd found one that I liked I jumped on it :) I'm all about charms that are supposed to protect - I'll take any extra help I can get!

The seller is Maldemer (link!), based out of Belgium. I had a little chuckle when I saw this name, because "mal de mer" is "sea sickness" in French. Hah!

I believe the owner Elisabeth is on vacation right now so no orders can be placed, but her shop indicates she'll be back July 1st! Shipping to Canada was the normal time (at least when Suzy sends me goodies!), about 1 week. The packaging of the piece is really cute too - I didn't get a good shot of it, but there's a little metal dragonfly decoration on the pink jewelry box. A really nice touch :)

She has some really nice pieces, but this one was the real stand-out to me (and don't worry, it comes in gold too!). I also like how the length of the chain worked out - about an inch shorter than my initial necklace, so they can be worn together. Doubling up on the dainty!

The "Zara Outfit" of the Day

Look at me, all businesslike. This feels weird to me, blogging about my work outfits. If this is something you like, I might be willing to make this kind of thing a bit more regular ;) So, yes, by day I have a big-girl job where I have to wear business attire. It's a very interesting dilemma every morning: how to be work-appropriate (i.e. skirts not too short, pants not too tight, not too much cleavage) while still maintaining my personal style. I like to think that I usually strike the right balance!

Anyway, here's today's work outfit. I call this my "Zara Outfit", not only because it's all from Zara, but I also bought everything together as an outfit, which is not something I do very often. It worked like a fashion miracle, so I need to do this more - I have too many orphan tops, blazers, skirts, etc. in my closet!

I realize that this isn't the most "trendy" or "fashion-girl" outfit, but I really think there's something to be said for a classic, chic outfit like this. I am in the hunt for a pair of slightly more interesting work heels - so maybe picture this with a little more shoe pizzazz, and then you'll have my ultimate work outfit!

Skirt: Zara
Blazer: Zara
Button down: Zara
White cami: Zara
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Bag: Coach

Also, I know this isn't the ideal outfit photo background... I was also doing an OOTD video and my neighbour decided it would be a great time to mow the lawn, as well as a giant truck deciding it would reverse all the way down my street. Noise city. Unfortunately it did not occur to me at the time that photos do not have sound. Oh well :)

C is for Chloë: an Etsy story

I'm not even going to pretend that I have a good reason for being so absent from my blog. I just suck. Sorry. Hopefully pretty jewelry distracts you from my poor blogging initiative.

I've been on a major Etsy kick lately, and I thought I'd show you all some of the lovely bits and bobs I've purchased, starting with this lovely initial necklace from a shop called Little Glamour. I had been wanting an initial necklace for ages, and I finally found one I liked with a dainty enough chain. It's always difficult to tell online, and I was so worried that I would end up with a big ol' chain and a little letter charm. This might actually be a majorly irrational worry. But obviously Elizabeth from Little Glamour gets me. This necklace is perfection.

In case you haven't known me long enough (or have only followed this blog and not my Youtube) I'm a major fan of dainty and minimalist jewelry. That's not to say I won't throw a statement necklace or bracelet in there every so often, because I totally do, but my mainstays are all classic pieces. This "C" necklace fits beautifully with my style and my other pieces.

As for the shopping experience, I have zero complaints and all praise! I received a message the same day I ordered it with an estimate as to when it would be ready to ship out, and indeed it was ready then! And it arrived 2 days later! Of course, it helps that I live in the same province as the seller, but fast shipping is always a major win and I can be rather impatient. I'm looking at you, two Etsy orders that have yet to arrive...

I also purchased an initial necklace from another shop for my friend's birthday. It hasn't arrived yet (grumble) (missed her birthday), but I'm curious to see whether there's a big difference between the pieces.

This is the other shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MazuMazu

Until next time, I'll be waiting patiently by my mailbox :) Also, I hope you all don't mind that I'm turning this blog into more of an "everything" blog. Chloë does indeed blog beauty, but I'd also like to blog fashion and maybe some food-related things. And dogs. Always dogs.

Obviously.
